About Dr Eno
Hello, I’m Dr. ENO. My name literally means God’s Gift.
The power of my name is truly a testament to my ‘humble beginnings’. As an infant born delivered at 28 weeks of gestation, to save the life of my ailing mother, my first birthplace was a stainless steel bin in the delivery room. You see in the 1960s, the chances of a premature infant surviving were pretty slim. Besides, my mother’s health was rapidly deteriorating. No one thought of my survival at that moment.
But God had a more powerful plan than what was visible to the human eye that day in the delivery room. You see as the story goes, an attentive student nurse witnessing the delivery heard me squeak, as I was dropped into that stainless steel bin. Left to die.
Therein began my journey. I was rushed to the neonatal unit. My mother says that it took her three days to believe that I had lived. During that time, the nurses, learned that I was not on anyone else’s feeding schedule but my own. They had to place a sign on my crib that read ‘feed me if I cry’. Or else they would have an entire nursery of wailing infants!! So I guess you can say that at that point, I became a leader.
Since surviving those odds, I have been unstoppable. I graduated as one of the top ten from medical school class of 1987-University of Calabar, Nigeria. I was also one of the youngest in my class. I have since gone on to enjoy what most would describe as a successful medical career as a board certified internist here in the United States.
I have always been fascinated by the power of the human mind and the way this affects how our body functions. I have always been passionate about teaching strategies to enhance our health and wellbeing. But as I tried to share this information with to my patients during routine office visits, I soon found that with the ‘double-booked’ fifteen-minute visit, I could not fulfill that purpose. I also found something else very intriguing- a lot of patients came to see the doctor to be ‘fixed’. The traditional medical model of care is highly paternalistic.
I knew that there had to be a better way for people living with chronic illness. Or people looking for ways to live healthier, more fulfilled lives. I believe that people can take back their power to heal and to thrive. In other words, illness in itself does not have to be disempowering.
My belief in the premise that we are all created complete, resourceful and whole; that it is only through conditioning that we become ‘broken’ led me in 2010 to train as an ontological life coach.
However, in late 2012, I got to experience my own mortality and the power of the work I believe in. I was diagnosed with cancer. But once again I defied the odds as I personally embraced the power of coaching and personal transformation to not only survive, but THRIVE through cancer.
I am passionate about working with people who are committed to healing in all dimensions of their lives- spiritual, emotional as well as physical. This way they are able to live their lives with a purpose, so that the planet benefits from their gifts!
This is who I am- a gift from God on the planet. It is my purpose to allow other people to experience a high level of health and wellbeing so that they too can express their unique gifts on the planet.
